Even in 2023, there is a large swath of Isaan where people live in sheer poverty.
It breaks my heart so see this and it reminds me of my own upbringing.
Too poor to even have 1 toy.
I can remember when my husband bought me a porcelain doll. It was 20 years too late and I cried for hours.
Many kids are forced to leave school early to work manual labor in the fields to support their families. They will have no future, only earning enough to survive each day.
The endless cycle in Isaan that will never be broken due to no jobs other that low paid manual labor in the fields.
We should not complain what we have or do not have.
There are millions of Thai’s that will never have anything.
Never go on a holiday or venture farm from the fields
But they won’t complain. They understand the way it is.
