14.46 million Thai people have registered for welfare cards this year

14.46 million people had registered for welfare cards as ofnoon yesterday (Sunday), under which they will receive monthly financial support from the state.

Pornchai Thiraveja, director-general of the Fiscal Policy Office, said that the applicants who registered from September 9th through September 15th can check the status of their applications from September 23rd at https://welfare.mof.go.th, or through the government agencywhich accepted the application, by simply completing forms with their 13-digit ID number and date of birth.

Low-income earners who wish to apply for the welfare cards can still do so by registering online at https://welfare.mof.go.th or through state-owned banks, such as Krung Thai Bank, Bank of Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives and the Government Savings Bank, provincial financial offices, all district offices, including offices in Bangkok during office hours, until October 19th.

During weekends, people can still register with the branches of state-owned banks which are open in shopping malls anddepartment stores.

Under the welfare card program, card holders will receive:

• 200-300 baht/month for the purchase of goods

• 500 baht monthly travel expenses for use on public transport

• A 45 baht discount for three-months on the purchase of cooking gas or 100 baht for the same period of time for people considered to be vulnerable

• Electricity subsidy of not more than 315 baht per month or for actual spending but not exceeding 315 baht

• 100 baht/month for water for each household

• A special 200 baht/month subsidy for disabled people

• Small vendors will receive 100 baht discount for cooking gas per month

• 100 baht monthly subsidy for people over 60, depending on their actual income
