Yes, wine lovers, there are some excellent wineries in Thailand.
One of my favorites is the Granmonte Winery in Pak Chong.

GranMonte Estate is uniquely located in Asoke Valley, Khao Yai and conveniently lies adjacent to Khao Yai National Park, approximately 160 kilometers from Bangkok. Asoke Valley is known in Thailand for its beautiful yellow blossoms special to the region of Khao Yai. The serene atmosphere and beautiful natural surroundings of Asoke Valley provide the perfect setting for the GranMonte Estate. The grandeur of Khao Yai mountain ranges has inspired the name “GranMonte”, which translates to “big mountain”.
GranMonte Vineyard is the story of a vision driven by Visooth Lohitnavy’s passion for wine. In 1999, a 12-hectare plot of land in the Northeast of Thailand, once a cornfield and cashew plantation, was about to realize its potential. It was here, nestled in the foothills of KhaoYai National Park, that Visooth settled with his wife, Sakuna and two young daughters, Nikki and Mimi. Soon, the land was cleared in preparation for his entrepreneurial pursuit. Little by little, Visooth studied vines and soil types, choosing the right varieties of vitis vinifera to discover those which would grow and yield fruit for the next generations.
GranMonte Asoke Valley Winery is our estate’s brand new winery, which began its operation in late January 2009. The winery has the maximum capacity to produce 120,000 bottles of wine per annum. This state-of-the-art winery uses imported winemaking equipment from France, Germany, Italy and Australia. Our grape processing and sorting technology is one of the most advanced in the world. We only use the highest quality French and American oak barrels for the aging of our wines, and temperature control stainless steel tanks for fermentation.
