The majority of Thai people (95%), don’t have the opportunity to realize their dreams.
The average college graduate is only earning 15,000 thb / US $441 per month.
The majority that never make it to college, end up as farmers, factory laborers, street food vendors, bar girls, and even less.
They will earn roughly the same income the rest of their lives.
The thing you see in most cases is acceptance.
Thai people accepting their card in life and doing their job with a smile on their face.
Of course they would love a new house, new car, land, gold, etc., but many have resolved themselves to the fact this will be nothing but a dream.
That is the way it is for the majority of Thai citizens.
In the rural areas, it is even worse as even menial jobs doing manual farm labor are hard to find.
Landing a low paying job in a company like Tesco, 7/11, MK etc. is a real prize. Not because of the low pay, because of the fact you will be working inside, in a clean and air conditioned environment.
Not much of a dream, but for many that is the way it is. Proud to have this job working inside.
The reason it is so hard for younger expats to make money in Thailand, is the fact it is even harder for Thai citizens.
That is just the way it is and it appears there will never be any incentive for the government and ultra-wealth to change that.
