Mueang District, Chonburi —
A tank truck overturned and spilled more than 10,000 litres of oil on the road in Chonburi.
Mueang Chonburi police on Monday responded to a traffic accident on Sukhumvit Road leading to Bangkok in the Nong Mai Daeng subdistrict of Mueang district, Chonburi, at 4:30 P.M.
A large tank truck was found overturned on the road with a ruptured oil tank, which was spilling oil and obstructing traffic for over 10 kilometers. The driver, Amnuay Kongsak (37), sustained minor injuries and was transferred to Chonburi Hospital.
Chonburi city workers had to clean more than 10,000 litres of oil off the road. Pisit Chankla, Director of Highway District 1, told The Pattaya News that the oil was not highly flammable and thus safe for workers to proceed with the cleaning.
Mueang Chonburi police stated that they would question the driver and review CCTV footage to determine the cause of the accident.
