The Harshness of Love

You may have come to Thailand on a holiday and fell in love.

Or you may have met someone online and fell in love before you had a chance to meet them in person.

Whatever the situation, love in Thailand is just plain harsh.

The meeting, lovey-dovey phase is just the beginning of what can only be described as painful heartache.

Finding the person of you dreams, then finding out being together will be almost impossible.

Not only does Thailand have strict visa regulations, trying to bring your Thai love to your home country is costly and filled with regulations.

For some, they can never crack these regulations, forcing them to be apart.

Others, the wait to be together becomes to long and the couple goes their separate ways.

There is no simple answer and this can be quite painful for the younger generation.

You need money to live in Thailand, jobs are almost impossible, and the VISA as well.

Even a marriage visa requires 400,000 thb parked in a Thai bank every year, on top of needing an income each month just to live. Not 100% impossible, just not easy at all.

There is no job guaranteed for the rest of your life in Thailand.

I sympathize with those in love, that are forced to separate and go back to their own countries for work and to make money to support their new families.

I cannot image the pain or heartache of being apart, however, that is the reality in Thailand.

When you find the person of your dreams and settle down, or want to settle down, life in Thailand becomes just like anywhere else.

Need a house, car, money for bills, insurance, tuition. These all cost money.

I think it is proven fact that love without money to sustain it, is very shorted lived.

To be together in Thailand before you are retired takes an almost miracle.

Although love conquers all, maybe that is not quite true in Thailand.

You have to find a way to pay for it and make it work.
