Revolut is a virtual bank account. You get a card and an account associated with that card. All the banking takes place in an app, online.
In the app you have everything you need:
- Your main account in your main currency
- You can open other accounts in different currencies, including Thai Bhat
- Your cards – the app shows you all the physical cards you have, plus it has virtual cards, which you can use for buying things online
- Stocks – you can buy and sell stocks through the app
- Vaults – savings accounts – in some countries they work like ISAs, in others they are only to put money away for small things.
Except that:
- You can transfer and send money to any account
- You can send money to another Revolut account
- You can split bills
- You have additional benefits, such as travel insurance, rewards, access to airport lounges
- You can book accommodation
- You can talk to a consultant online if you have questions or problems.
Having the account allows you to open multiple currency accounts, exchange the currencies online. You can also send and receive money within seconds!

Opening your account when you don’t live in Thailand
- Click here
- Insert your telephone number
- You will be sent a code to the phone number you chose. Put the code on the next screen that will appear
- Choose the country of your residence
- Insert your full name and surname
- Choose a revtag – this is simply a nickname, which you can use when giving another Revolut’s user your details
- Insert your date of birth
- Insert your home address
- Put your email address
- Take a selfie – The app will ask for access to your camera, allow it and take a selfie as instructed
- Provide proof of address and a photo of your ID
- Choose a PIN – You will use it to log in to the app
- Choose a package you’d like to use. Revolut has a few, including the Premium package, which gives you things like travel insurance and other benefits
- Choose a card that you like. You can choose a physical card or a virtual card
- Add money to the account, if you want. It’s totally fine to not to add anything for now
- Wait for your account to be approved – it takes a few days
You will get a notification when your account is ready. Revolut will send you a card to your chosen address, you will be able to sign in to the app and start using the account straight away.
