Why are so many tourists distraught at leaving Thailand at the end of their holiday?
Leaving Thailand means returning to their everyday life, which can feel dull and routine in comparison to their holiday.
This contrast can be jarring, causing a sense of loss and sadness. Tourists may miss the carefree atmosphere, beautiful scenery, and warm hospitality they experienced in Thailand.
Also the fact they are enjoying life, seeing new sites, eating new foods and not having to work.
However, for many, leaving Thailand can be a deeply emotional experience.
Leaving Thailand signifies the end of that adventure, which can be bittersweet.
Tourists, upon reaching the airport to leave Thailand, are often sad and depressed as they enter the departure lounge.
To be fair, many of these tourists arrive flush with cash for a short holiday and enjoy a lifestyle they could not maintain if they lived here fulltime.
Returning home with the dream that living in Thailand would be the same experience 365 days a year is not realistic.
