Carolina Reaper peppers are a cross between a red ghost pepper from Pakistan and a red habanero from the Caribbean.
We grow these here in Thailand and I can say they are 10X+ more spicy than Thai chili’s.
Carolina Reaper peppers are considered one of the spiciest edible peppers in the world. They can reach a maximum of 2.2 million Scoville Heat Units (SHU), which is more than twice as hot as ghost peppers, which range from 855,000–1,041,427 SHU.
Whereas we may cook Thai dishes with a handful (10 to 12) of Thai chilies, only 1 Carolina Reaper will set your whole mouth on fire.
Eating Carolina Reaper peppers can cause localized symptoms such as mouth burning, mouth numbness, and vomiting. The peel of the pepper can cause discomfort to bare skin and severe pain to cuts. You should also avoid touching your eyes or face.
There are very, very few people that can eat peppers this hot.
