For foreigners that move or holiday in Thailand, they get enamored by Buddhism, never having a clue the corruption spread throughout the religion all over Thailand.
In 2023, we see monks with iphones, ipads, cameras, smoking, driving cars, (I saw 1 eating in Pizza Company), shopping in electronics stores, etc. that are NOT suppose to own material possessions.
That is the reality of Thailand’s Buddhism with YOUR donations!

Why? The answer is money grab.
High ranking monks embezzling 30,000,000 thb and this is only 1 case they got caught.
If you understand the Lord Buddha was just a common man and not a god, you can see why there is no fear in stealing money or other corrupt deeds.
These monks all know the history and are aware there is no higher power to punish them.
You might want to think twice before giving any donations to the temples.
You would be better off giving your donations to people are poor and hungry.
