Is Rural Life for You?

Do you think you would be happy living in rural Thailand versus the cities or tourists areas?

I think there are groups of foreigners that relish having land (space), nature, peace and quiet.

But the rural life is not for everyone.

If your goal is peace and quiet, nature, gardening, ponds, low cost, you are in the right place.

If you need the stimulation of bars, restaurants, attractions and other expats, well this is probably not for you.

Rural Isaan for example, is a real slow pace of life. People don’t have much to worry about.

Waking up each morning, is no different than anywhere else in the world.

When you own a house and land, there are always things to do around the house.

Local markets and vendors all get to know you.

Daily routines often involve going to a local market for food, coffee or whatever else you want.

It is so cheap, there are not many reasons to cook.

Rural Isaan has lots of attractions that are wonderful in nature and not known to the maddening crowds of tourists.

There are all kinds of these local trips you can do anytime.

So it is not as boring as it seems.

Boredom may come from not having enough money to jump in the car/truck and go whenever you want to.

The cities and tourist areas will always be where they are and what they are.

It is easy to visit anytime should you get the urge.

However, for a slower pace day to day, you cannot beat living in rural Thailand.
