How many expats have the same kind of friendships they had back home?
It is odd many expats in Thailand do not like other expats in Thailand and rarely have any friends?
Is this due to different backgrounds, behaviors, financial status or something else?
My husband is always saying you cannot trust a lot of the expats in Thailand the same way you could trust friends you have grown up with or those you have known your entire life.
There are probably many expats living on the legal edge that do not want to discuss their situation and maintain to themselves.
In rural Isaan, sometimes at the monthly or weekend markets, expats will walk by each other and not even give an acknowledgement.
To each his own, however, on should be advised that unless you are camped out in bar all week with the same customers you consider your friends, true friendships may be hard to find.
You want to try to have some Thai friends instead!
