Bangkok is a huge city and is approximately 600+ square miles in area.
Depending on traffic, it could take your hours to reach your destination.
All those travel hours add up and deduct from your vacation time.
The following are the best ways to get around Bangkok;
- BTS -The Bangkok Mass Transit System, commonly known as the BTS Skytrain, is an elevated rapid transit system in Bangkok. Passengers pay a fair to go from station to station along the rail line. Tickets can be purchased on the lower levels of each train station. Convenient maps show the stations and it is easy to navigate. While inside the train, a voice prompt in Thai and English will warn you of the next station. Move towards the door so that you can depart the train before it takes off for the next station.
- MRT – The Metropolitan Rapid Transit or MRT is a mass rapid transit system serving the Bangkok Metropolitan area. The MRT is and underground train system. The MRT is divided into different colored trains, which go to different areas of the city.

The primary difference between these mass transit systems is their tracks. While MRT mostly runs underground, BTS runs along elevated lines. On top of that, the BTS system consists of 62 stations with 70.05 kilometers of system length, while there are 54 stations for MRT with 225.7 kilometers of system length.
3. Taxis – Taxis will come along every 5 seconds in Bangkok, so do not worry. It is very important when you hail a cab, is to open the door and ask the driver if he will use the electronic meter before you enter. That way you will be sure to pay the correct fare.
4. Motorbike Taxis – Can be a scary proposition in Bangkok traffic, however, if you are only going a short distance, this is the cheapest and fastest. You ride on the back of the taxi driver’s motorbike.
5. Tuk Tuk – Is is great to experience at least one Tuk Tuk ride when you are in Thailand. Be advised however, that these drives will make up fare’s. Only get onboard if you agree with the quote fair or do your best to negotiate the fare lower.
6. Grab – Ride sharing apps have taken a grip in Bangkok and it is now easy to hail a Grab driver. Look on this website for the Grab App.
