Thailand at 70+

I will give an update about life in Thailand at age 70+. Still loving life, though many things have changed since I first came here.

Upon first coming to Thailand there are 1,000’s of exciting things to do, places to go, foods to try and people to meet. I felt I covered all those and visited every single province over the years.

Fast forward through the years to age 70+.

Live in rural Isaan on 26 rai, had a custom house built, 4 br 3 bath.

My day basically consists of waking up, taking a shower, then going with my wife to local market, stalls or places to eat and get something to eat. Buy something extra to take home.

Then it is back to the house to putter around what ever needs doing.

We have a large outside area with seating and kitchen, gardens, fruit trees and a nice clean pond.

Always something to putter around doing until it gets to hot.

We have some fitness equipment, so get a work out in daily, with weights and a treadmill.

Might read the news or catch up on some emails, then it is time for lunch.

Back to finding a nice local spot for lunch. Drive the car, usually too hot for the motorbikes at this time. Maybe take a drive around while we are out.

If we need to shop, get the shopping done at this time and back to the house.

I will spend an hour or two in the afternoon reading a real book and just taking it easy until dinner.

Take another shower, then off to dinner in one of the local places. Maybe bring some family along.

After dinner, arrive back home and watch a movie or sports.

Sounds like a pretty boring life, right?

When you get to a certain age, hopefully you are respectful enough to do all the right things and that is what I try to do.

Was never a drinker or smoker, so bars have never been it for me.

After being married for 20+ years, I cherish family more than anything. Long gone are the skirt chasing days.

I find enjoyment with my wife’s family and they are always over visiting, the young and the old.

I am financially solid, so the good news is that we can travel domestic and international.

We try to do at least 2 or 3 big international trips each year to South Korea, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, and maybe 6 trips domestically to the north, Kanchanaburi, The islands.

The domestic travel has gotten old as I have seen and done it all many times by now.

I have outgrown all the noise, crowds, traffic of the cities and much rather prefer my quiet life.

Local celebrations and concerts are the way for me now.

Don’t have anything or any reason to get riled up, I like it this way.

I want to try to live as long as I can and do the right things, exercise, eat right, etc.

When I look back to my younger days, I can tell you it was one exciting time after another!

However, now too old for techno!
