Thailand is a great country and I love my country. Lot’s of foreigner’s love Thailand as well.
Although Thailand is a great place to live, it is not easy for foreigners without a guaranteed income.
Previous posts I talked about the financial costs now and 30 years from now.
Ensuring you will still have enough money to survive 30 years from now.
Thailand is not an easy place to live because there is a whole list of jobs reserved for Thai people that foreigners cannot do.
Add to the fact getting a work permit where you can make enough money is not an easy task either.
Although Thai’s can work in the UK, USA, Australia, the feeling is not reciprocated in Thailand.
The draconian thought of even 1 Thai having no work due to 1 foreigner is engraved in stone here.
Who cares if Thai’s can work overseas almost anywhere.
Money is key and a guaranteed income is almost a must these days if you want to live in Thailand the rest of your life.
Another issue is language and culture.
It is hard to get by over the years if you cannot speak the language or accept the Thai culture.
Modern problems such as air pollution and traffic in the cities will continue to get worse and worse with no solutions.
As the country falls deeper and deeper into personal debt, crime is on the rise.
You have to pay attention to your surroundings and not flash your wealth.
VISA’s are always an issue.
The education system is horrid. If you marry a Thai and raise your kids here, unless you are rich, international school to western standards is out of reach for most families.
Understand moving from the first world to the third world will have a ton of challenges.
It is best to visit often and understand Thai life before deciding this is the location for the rest of your life.
