Just because it is Thailand, you do not have to live a 100% Thai life.
My American husband has been here over 30 years.
We live in very rural Isaan.
He is not a Buddhist, and does not partake in Buddhist activities, alms, donations or anything related to my religion. However, when the time comes, he has opted to be cremated at the local temple.
We have a western house, much the same as we have in Florida USA.
No loss of comfort at all.
After living in the USA for over 10 years, I still enjoy western foods so we eat a mixture or Thai and western food. We do a lot of outside grilling!
We drive the same kinds of cars (Honda) and truck (Isuzu).
Always some smooth jazz or other western music playing through out the day.
We watch western sports and movies. PS don’t forget Thai soap operas!
In Thailand you can live what ever kind of life you want.
We do enjoy a lot of western comforts and still enjoy domestic and international travel.
You do not have to change who you are or what you enjoy just because you live in Thailand.
Aside of the Isaan dialect, which my husband can speak, there isn’t much of a difference from the life we had in Florida, USA.
We did ship a lot of things from the USA to here so we still have some of the things we enjoyed there as well.
Life is what you make of it. Thailand does not require you to change to enjoy your life here.
