Public City Buses

BTS Skytrain
The BTS skytrain (above ground) also navigates throughout Bangkok and is more reliable than the public buses. However it is slightly more expensive at 15 – 60 baht (~$0.50 – $2 USD). *Tip get yourself a daily pass! Get the BTS/MRT APP HERE
MRT Subway
The MRT subway (below ground) is similar to the BTS and they can be used interchangeably depending on which is available in the area/most efficient/your preference. Get the BTS/MRT APP HERE
GRAB
Grab is a ride share app within Thailand that works the same as Uber. Get the GRAB APP HERE
Baht Bus/Songthaew
A baht bus/songthaew is essentially a pickup truck but with a cover over the riders in the back. You jump on and then off at your destination. There is usually a buzzer attached inside to notify the driver you want to get off. Then walk to the front to pay the driver. It’s much cheaper than a personal taxi and prices start at 10 baht.
Tuk Tuk
These vehicles have 3 wheels and are an open vehicle so they’re great fun. You should experience at least 1 tuk tuk ride. Be Warned! In Bangkok, Tuk Tuk drivers will try to scam you with all kinds of ridiculous pricing. Make sure you agree on a price that is suitable for you. If the driver asks too much, find another tuk tuk in your price range.
Motorbike Taxi
Motorbike taxies are a cheap and quick way to get to your short destination. If you do not mind weaving in an out of traffic on a motorbike, this might be the cheapest option.
Canal Boat
