Once you land at the international airport, the fun begins to get to your final destination.
Choices at the airport are official taxi queue, bus, airport link, and rental car.
If you are driving yourself (rental car), make sure to have an international drivers license and insurance!
Thailand drivers are notorious for not obeying the rules of the road and drive very dangerously (speeding and not using turn signals).
Motorbikes also zip in and out between the middle lanes of traffic with no warning.
Be advised if you rent a car, be sure to get one with GPS as the road signs are all in Thai and it is easy to get lost.
Once you get outside of Bangkok and the larger cities, driving in Thailand is quite easy.
The cities are extremely difficult and traffic can be bumper to bumper for miles.
Taxis are a stress-free way to get to your destination. If you do not want to stress yourself out driving this is the best method.
Buses are cost effective, however, very slow to destination.
We do not advise mini-vans as over the years there have been an insane amount of crashes killing all passengers. A private mini-bus operator would be OK if rent by the day or by the trip.
Flying domestically is still a hassle. Have to make your connection, and flights are often full and have to check all baggage. Make sure to check the baggage costs before booking a flight.
Due to traffic, the amount of cars on the road, people taking flights to the islands, domestic travel can be very slow and stressful. Better plan for that. There is no easy solution.
