Incoming RTP chief Big Den says “brazen, violent crime is on the increase” in Thailand

Pol Gen Damrongsak Kittipraphat told the Thai media at the weekend that serious violent crime of a brazen nature often using guns is on the rise in Thailand. 

The proliferation of weapons is attracting the attention of the man known in the media as Big Den (the notable one).

Big Den is especially worried about how easy it is to buy weapons online and in his capacity as chief of the PCT – Police Cyber Taskforce – he ordered a crime crackdown from 24th to 31st August.

The man who will take up the position of RTP chief at the end of this month replacing outgoing chief Pol Gen Suwat Chaengyodsuk, pointed to brazen and violent events at an Ubon Ratchathani restaurant and shootings among young people as well as armed robbery to back up his claims that Thailand is getting more violent.

In the crackdown 422 guns were seized and more than 6,000 rounds of ammunition and hundreds of arrests were made of dealers and people opening illegal accounts to receive money.

In addition more and 6,000 Ya Ba pils were seized and 400 grams of “ice” (crystal meth), reported Daily News

He urged the Thai public to help the RTP by calling 1441 (the PCT number) to report online tech crime.
