As soon as Messi went down, he signaled to the bench as he knew he was finished for the game.
Photos and videos appeared to show Messi crying on the side lines with a boulder sized sprained ankle.
Knowing how much this championship meant to him and the retiring Angel Di Maria, Messi was overcome by grief that he could not finish the game and was seen crying on the team bench.
