Marriage Equality

Thailand becomes only the third county in Southeast Asia to recognize marriage equality for same-sex couples.

LGBTQ+ advocates called the move a “monumental step forward” as it would make Thailand the third country in Southeast Asia to enact marriage equality legislation.

Thailand is already known for its vibrant LGBTQ+ culture and tolerance, making it a popular destination for tourists.

The Senate voted 130-4 to pass the law with 18 abstentions. It will be sent to the palace for royal approval. The law will come into force 120 days after it is published in the Royal Gazette.

This is a huge step forward to recognize same-sex couples and afford them the same rights and benefits of heterosexual couples.

Thailand has a huge population of LGBTQ’s and it is only right to afford them the same equal rights as others.

It is hard enough as it is to survive in Thailand.

If you can find someone to spend your life with, congratulations!
