Not in Love with Thailand

Even though I was born in Thailand and I am a Thai woman, I am not in love with Thailand.

It is crazy the amount of foreigner’s on social media that say they love Thailand or are in love with Thailand.

I can only guess it is because the majority of people have never traveled and Thailand is their first destination?

Armed with a fist full of money, these tourists, many who have never seen a beach, mountains, etc., immediately become infatuated with the idea that this is everyday Thailand.

Hence they fall in love with the country right away.

Many decide to uproot and move to Thailand fulltime.

It is not long after that the love soon wears off.

Whether it is Thailand, UK, USA, Australia, Japan, etc. there is no free ride.

Life costs money.

When you don’t have a fixed income or earn a lot of money, the love for any country wears off quite quickly.

Thailand is no different.

With limited funds, Thailand can be very harsh.

I have traveled extensively and own a house in Florida USA.

I never said I love the USA or anywhere else I have visited.

It all comes down to the same thing, money.

It is hard to love any country if you don’t have enough money to live life the way you want to live it. (Like a millionaire).

So often expats in Thailand get confused with living and just barely surviving.

When things change and you are just barely surviving financially, it is hard to love that country.

Anywhere I have ever traveled to, there are things I loved and things I hated.

It would seem impossible to love one country; it would have to be a perfect utopia.

Thailand is not that, and if you are underfunded, you will find out quite quickly.

Taking advice from these people that love Thailand is a dangerous proposition and you will rarely get any facts. So do not!

It won’t be long for many moving that have moved to Thailand to fall out of love with the country.
