Thailand is not the same fabulous location once you move here and have to start working full-time.
No different than anywhere else.
The commute is super hot and sweaty, or raining in buckets with the streets flooded or just congested. The BTS/MRT crammed full of people getting to work and back.
The way Thai’s work crazy hours, longer in the west.
All of this adds up to no time to enjoy Thailand. Being so tired every week all you want to do is sleep. Not having much time off in general.
Throw in some stress or unhappiness in the job and it is even worse.
If you have a low paid job, even worse having money worries.
When you are forced to work, the dream life you imaged when you visited as a tourist, is anything but that.
It gets worse the longer you stay when you realize you are not saving any money and not getting ahead in your job.
The length of time before people give up with this life is sometimes relatively short lived.
Thailand is Thailand because when you first come here you have plenty of TIME and MONEY to do whatever you want, see whatever you want and eat whatever you want, on your own schedule.
Working fulltime in Thailand takes that all away from you.
Work is the big time stealer. Stealing large chunks of your life, before you know it.
Thailand is a place for retiree’s that have already paid life’s dues working till they were 65.
Or the super rich. Or the rich influencers or social media personalities.
Money buys time to enjoy life.
If you move to Thailand and are forced to work in a mundane job like teaching English, it won’t be very long before you regret it.
