That is correct. You only need 1 thing to be successful in Thailand.
That one thing is a guaranteed income and the more the merrier!
Most people that fail while living in Thailand do so because of the following reasons:
- They came over on savings and ran out of money.
- They didn’t understand how hard it would be to get a job.
- Didn’t understand working teaching English is often not enough to survive.
- Got involved with the wrong person and lost all their money.
- Outspending their income on beer and prostitutes.
- Lived for today, not understand after years and years of no savings, they would get old and have no pension or income.
Thailand is NOT FREE!
Hear that loud and clear!
While some things are cheaper, like renting a condo the size of a western bathroom, most of those things you love cost more.
Steak dinner? More.
Pizza? More.
Wine? More.
Beer? More.
Dates? Definitely more because you are paying.
Cars? More.
Thailand has loads of high ends clubs, restaurants and other things most expats cannot even afford.
So, if you want to survive in Thailand, do NOT run out of money, overspend your pension, or foolishly lose all your savings to a bar girl.
Don’t think you are going to come here in your 20’s and putter around on Youtube until you are 60 and survive. You won’t make it.
All these foolish, young, Youtuber’s, look at me living in Thailand. How cool am I?
Not even 1 clue how much you need to survive in retirement or not even 1 thought about how to get to retirement.
From age 60 to age 80, if you only spent 30,000 thb per month (which is barely surviving), you would have needed to save US $206,000. If you are spending your years just surviving and not saving, you are screwed.
As the years go on and on and on, I would suspect an Expat will need 90,000 thb to be able to retire, pay medical insurance and live like a normal human being with their own house and car.
Getting to retirement age, is to late to figure out how much it will cost.
Money is everything in Thailand.
Better believe it!
