Social media has ruined photography.
With the advent of Facebook, Tik Tok and Instagram, the new generation thinks taking every photo in Portrait mode is normal.
Sorry it is not normal and ruins the entire shot!
People are so hip to say “Look at Me” they will dump a bunch of photos in the wrong orientation, blurry, out of focus, dark, grainy, uncolored and a host of other photography taboos.
Why? Why is it that people have zero pride and will upload complete junk just to get noticed or brag they have been there?
I would be 100% embarrassed to post 99% of the photos I see on social media.
Facebook Groups with 250,000+ members with completely junky photos and people still comment nice! Thumbs up, etc.
Maybe people are just so use to seeing this junk that they accept it is as normal.
It isn’t anywhere near normal and quite sad people feel the need to make it more about them than the actual photo.
I look at photography as capturing a special memory or place in time. I want to try to capture that emotion and preserve it forever.
If I look at 10,000 photos on social media, I would be lucky to find 5 that I would like.
In this world of mass socialization of everything in a person’s life, I guess asking them to put some efforts into their photography is asking too much?
