Road Rage is Real

Thai people are not known to be the most skilled drivers in the world. Not only that, many Thai drivers have very short fuses and can get violently angry on the roadways.

It is best, although ALL drivers should do this, to avoid cutting people off, giving them the finger, beeping the horn or reacting in a way that will enrage the other driver.

Here is one recent example, in San Sai district, Chiang Mai, where a man wielding a knife confronted another driver after the driver honked his horn at him.

A Thai man turned a routine traffic dispute into a life-threatening attack, leaving a Polish man severely injured after a road rage incident spiraled out of control in Pattaya yesterday.

An eyewitness, 16 year old Akarachai, recounted the chilling sequence of events to reporters. The incident began with a heated argument over a traffic dispute, sparked when one party cut off the other.

As tempers flared, the confrontation escalated into a fistfight. However, when the Thai suspect realized he couldn’t overpower the Polish man Slawomir, he resorted to stabbing him, forcing the victim to retreat in search of help.

The perpetrator is still on the loose.

Always keep in the back of your mind these things can happen on the roadways in Thailand.
