Thailand: A Tough Nut

Thailand is a tough nut to crack if you need to make an income.

Not counting any sort of full expat packages (which are fewer and fewer), making a realistic income that allows you to save for retirement is getting very tough to impossible.

Recently, an admin for the Facebook Group Love Thailand, sent packing back to the UK after 20 years. Reason? Lack of income. Had to leave his wife behind.

Any one with 1/4 brain can survive financially for the short term.

However, without a guaranteed income your entire working life, you will NOT make it here.

No you won’t get rich on Youtube.

No you won’t have any retirement if you are not paying into your countries system.

Thailand would have 30 million expats if it was that simple to move to Thailand and have a guaranteed income for the rest of your working life.

The realistic answer, almost impossible these days.

Survive yes.

Live like a normal person, like you did in your own country, no!

There is a reason, even why Thai people work their entire lives.

It is to save for retirement when you can no longer work or have an income.

If Thai’s have to work their entire lives, then you will too.

Any sort of plan to move to Thailand fulltime, better come with a guaranteed income the next 40 years.

Don’t get me started how many jobs AI will eliminate in those years.

AI can do a better job teaching English to Thai’s than ALL the foreign teachers combined.

You better believe it will be adios to those teaching jobs you planned on.

Even us Thai people worry about money, and having a job the rest of our lives.

You should be even more worried and have a place to move back to.
