The Misery of Selling Up

For those that make the decision to sell everything and move to Thailand, it can be a very painful and stressful time.

Retiree’s that have a lifetime of things they have collected over the years, selling all of that, selling the cars, selling the house, pets, leaving friends and family.

All while facing uncertainty in your new country and having fears of nothing to come back to.

Only when one starts down this path do they realize how much stuff they have collected over the years and what to do with it?

Many people recommend selling it all and starting over buying everything new in Thailand.

Some people ship a container with all their belongings.

Each and every person has that decision to make.

Some people own and have a collected a house full antiques, collectibles, hobbies and memories.

Others have lived a flat most of their life don’t own much as all. For those, the decision can be easy.

If you are on a one way trip to Thailand and will never come back, you need to ask yourself if your things are important to your happiness? If they are keep them.

My husband has some things he has had for 40 years. Materialist things that to most would have no value, but to him, it important.

If you look at the cost of totally furnishing a new house in Thailand, with inferior stuff, version the cost of a container, you might be surprised.

If you are married a Thai and moving back, there is NO customs tax on your belongings.

The only one that can make this decision is you.

It is your stuff and your future!
