To sell or not to sell, that is the question?
Many expats sell everything they own and move to Thailand thinking it is a one way trip.
For me, as a dual Thai and US citizen, I am now currently contemplating on whether or not to sell a house we own in Florida.
My husband has left the decision to me as he has no interest in living in the US and will pass long before me.
Some of things I often ponder is the future?
You can “what if” yourself to death.
Will my home in Thailand always be safe and sound or with neighbors like China and Russia change things for the worse?
It is always good to have a place to go if things got bad, although I never expect that to happen.
Rural Thailand has not changed much in the past 50 years.
I also do not want to live in the US and neither does our son.
So the discussion is coming around to sell the house.
We currently have monthly management fees for the upkeep, property taxes, insurance and other expenses there.
My husband has always said, sell the house, bank the money and if you ever need to move, you have the money to pay for another house. Sound advice.
However, I cannot see myself living outside of Thailand, because this is my home country.
Selling a house that is fully furnished requires more decisions on what to do with all the stuff?
And if you plan to ship any or not.
No one can predict the future, however, any thoughts should be thought out carefully.
I can no longer see any sense of keeping a house I will ever stay in.
