Why do Thai girls want to be Snow White, white skin colored to the tune of a billion US $ dollars a year?
According to a report by Global Market Insights, the global skin whitening product market is expected to reach $31 billion by 2024. Thailand is one of the largest markets for skin whitening products in the world.
Growing up in Isaan with darker skin, I never had the money to try to make myself white skinned, when finding money for food was hard enough.
Most models (mixed and other), most TV and Soap Opera stars and many famous entertainers are all very light skinned.
City girls strive to be as white skinned as these famous people, to attract a rich Thai boyfriend or marriage. Or so they think?
This is something I learned from personal experience.
When I was married and moved to Florida USA, which has tons of ocean front beaches, white skin is seriously looked down upon.

I found out that in the US, these tan girls were what every guy wanted.
Being snow white, people thought something was wrong with them or they were from a very northern climate.
When I learned it was normal to get a dark tan I felt much better about myself.
I suspect foreign men like women from Isaan and their darker skin because they are very use to seeing this at beaches in their own countries and find it very attractive.
Middle class to richer Thai men are known to never go for an Isaan girl, as they prefer ghost white.
A very different contrast of different cultures.
Isaan girls are sexy and would be loved even more in the west!
